Improving access to health services and preventing HIV infection in Zambian communities.
For over eight years, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) through Ciheb has been working to improve access to health services and prevent HIV infection in Zambian communities, including underserved communities.
Ciheb Zambia is now a local Zambian NGO working with UMB to prevent HIV infection among key populations such as adolescent girls and young women and to provide community health systems strengthening initiatives.
Although Zambia faces multiple challenges to vaccinating its population, Ciheb Zambia is supporting the Ministry of Health (MOH) to ready the country when the supply of vaccines increases.
Ciheb and its local partner Ciheb-Zambia are implementing together with the Zambia Ministry of Health in scaling up community-based HIV prevention and testing services under the ongoing DREAMS initiative.
The Zambian Government has launched the first-ever COVID-19 vaccination program targeting the population of 18 years of age and older. Zambia has received the COVID vaccines (AstraZeneca).
